I’m joined by callers as I discuss why truth doesn’t seem to matter as much to Trump supporters, and what it will take for the 34% of people who still support him to realize that they’ve ‘been had.’

Something the mainstream media seems to miss is that, contrary to what polls indicate, it’s not that so many Republicans believe the lies. Rather, many adopt the lies and spread them because they like the narratives those lies further. Accordingly, birther-ism succeeded among Republicans not–as polls indicated–because a majority of them believed Obama was born in Kenya but because many liked the narrative and, so, spread the lie. These days, the number of people who like and then spread false and outrageous narratives is much greater than the number of people who actually believe “alternative facts.” Of course, this undermining of our political discourse is a self-indulgent , destructive assault on our country.
