The Inaugural Crush: A Logistical Nightmare
The District of Columbia has only $15 million appropriated from the Federal Government to deal with up to 4 million people, which (if it occurs) would be the largest crowd in a single place in all of American history. That’s less than the $17.3 million appropriated for Bush’s 2005 inaugural when a paltry 300,000 showed up. And much less than the $50 million spent by Congress on both the Republican and Democratic National Convention when only 10,000s showed.
With serious transit, security, and possible weather problems, it’s a logistical nightmare.
ALSO the two reasons Republicans are bailing out on the auto bail out: it’s not hard enough on American workers and it’s not friendly enough to oil companies.
Twenty-three days until a new Congress.
Not a moment too soon.
AND FINALLY will Bush pardon Scooter Libby?
