While I agree that people who refuse to use proven drugs are quite silly, I don’t get the focus. I mean there are plenty of people who use would use penicillin but don’t wear seat belts or use child car seats or non-religious who prefer organic foods, some of which might have more e coli in them as in the apple juice scare a while back contaminated with bird feces. Should parents who prefer naturally processed foods or fresh milk be prosecuted if their children get a bad batch and get sick.
Conversely, If I, a person who does buy pasteurized milk, be sued if my daughters gain some syndrome after drinking milk steroids, hormones and antibiotics for twenty years while the organic people have been warning me that it’s poison?
People survive strep throat. I fight it off some years. Some years I don’t.
I didn’t enjoy this show so much. I think we left wingers need to understand that we aren’t the moral police any more than the right wing is.
BTW, just like some Catholics use condoms and eat Whoppers on Friday, not all Scientolologists are fundamentalists. We lefties tend to paint people of other religions as fundamentalists who follow the letter of the doctrine. Such people are rare. My mother in law is a devout Jehovah’s witness yet she calls on every birthday. and would probably take blood in an operation with her medical background.
I hardly think that such a flippant and jocular angle would have been taken were yo talking about Catholics and their taboos or Indians or Jews not giving a blood thinner to a child made from secretions of pig intestine. It might be discussed, but not made fun of.
This is why we lose some elections by small margins. I’m religious and if that were my religion, I would definitely identify the party and NOT vote for it.
I’ll chalk this up to Cold medicine. This was a night of gaffs. Not diplomatic. Not respectful
