More Mass Shootings, Another Debate on Guns
December 12, 2007
This time it’s Omaha, Colorado Springs, and Denver. Last time it was Virginia Tech. Before that was Columbine.
Guests Larry Pratt, Executive Director of the Gun Owners of America and Brian Siebel Senior Attorney, Legal Action Project for the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence debate whether easier access of Americans to deadly weapons — or more limited access — makes America safer.

Sean–zombie acts of crime have causes larger than the crime and are as indigenous to our way of death as any other side of our emotional spectrum–in seeking a cure–the psychological roots to such distress are the real story for the sane man who tries to break the cycle of such madness

Madfuq,
The news media by not reporting on these stories would be serving the community in which it should at least try and serve of Shooting spree trauma or injustices.
The glamour of the Britney’s-Lohan’s is better suited to what you pose in your question. Why give them free publicity.
I think the post by ” Show the disease to find a cure’s “, speaks very well to addressing your thought and I agree with his assertion. He said it well.
I can only add that it would be important to know via the news (than merely hearsay) that there might have been some lack or failure in providing the mental health that doesn’t exist and should or exists and does not provide as it should. Not for blame, only to correct for our futures sake.

I for one would like to see the people that commit acts like Virgina tech investigated for physiological manipulation. They all seem like zombies to me…
We hear they were on some odd mind drug and have some sort of connection to ‘hypnotherapy’ sessions, then the story seems to take a sharp turn into the ‘hypothetical’.
“Person X just shot and killed 20 people then killed himself. He was on a mind drug and was receiving close hypotheropy sessions from a government doctor. Now lets talk about what on TV might have caused this guy to do this.”
Why not investigate the real evidence? Who might have had the physiological control over the guy to program him to do it? Why speculate and theorize about possible indirect causes? Why not just conduct an open and thorough investigation? And why is the story all of a sudden buried every time?
Why is it every time a zombie guy pops up and acts like a robot and commits some high profile violent act which makes no sense at all the story quickly becomes about something other than the crime?
