Mark on Air America: Whose Suffering Moves you Most?
October 29, 2009
Whose suffering moves you most?
Animals? (Are you a vegetarian?)
Your family’s?
People in your neighborhood, city, or nation?
People with inadequate health care?
People suffering genocide?
People who don’t deserve suffering?
The homeless?
People of your race, religion, or ethnicity?
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

In my last year in the army–I was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX
Cultural Slaughter
Culture of war,
do you dare keep score of the horror
as friendly fire ups the tally
of senseless misery,
bloody slaughter
is all the rage
for numb minds conditioned to kill
an enemy that is all humanity,
as anyone with a heartbeat
becomes a target of opportunity,
is there no boundary
to the violent insanity
directed against itself,
that creates a monster
roaming rogue with the blind anger
of an overstressed soldier,
committed to ill-conceived duty
in the theater of dishonor
showing the vain act of the play
that is now just a sad recurring cliché,
time to bury more bodies,
bugle taps
and fire weapons to the sky,
as cruel demeaning meaning fades away
from the corpses in the caskets,
under flags draped and on display.

You left out those heart tugging SPCA advertisements. And the touching music while you look into those sad puppies eyes.
and do not forget those Wall Street guysthat have people questioning their bonus and wages after bailed out?
