Is Karl Rove Going to Jail?

Guest: Michael Shoob, Co-Director of the documentary, Bush’s Brain
Karl Rove, a “Presidential Advisor” is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse who run the country. Like the others: Dick Cheney, Tom Delay, and Antonin Scalia, he has more power than his titular superior. Rove is more powerful than Bush because he’s smarter than Bush and because Bush follows Rove’s orders. If Bush is the “boy-king” — an immature pleasant frat-boy fellow who likes to play rancher, give people nicknames, and prance around in military guard (even though he avoided military service to get high on cocaine) –Rove is like Cardinal Richelieu or Rasputin: he is the power behind the throne. And, since the squatter on the throne (Bush) is simple-minded, Rove (with Cheney) wields the power of the Presidency.
Rove is Bush’s Brain. And my guest today will show how his lies and dirty tricks have caused Bush such great success that Bush calls him “Turd Blossom,” a flower that literally blooms out of bullshit.
But Karl Rove is in trouble. Ambassador Joseph Wilson, having failed to convince the President not to lie to America in his State of the Union Speech by citing forged documents to claim that Saddam Hussein was seeking nuclear weapons from Niger, went public and let everyone know that the President was lying to the American people. And, even worse, the President knew he was lying to the American people.
Karl Rove got revenge. In an attempt to discredit Wilson, Rove sacrificed American security by disclosing the identity of a pre-eminent CIA agent who was an expert in Weapons of Mass Destruction: Joseph Wilson’s wife Valerie.
But now, the tide is turning. The Special Prosecutor is fresh on Rove’s heels. Rove had said Wilson’s wife was “fair game,” that, in effect, it was OK to commit treason against the USA as long as the President could cripple Government servants who dared tell Americans the truth about the President’s lies.
Is there any doubt that Rove’s crime – treason – is worse than the breaking and entry of Watergate? Or that his opponents – dedicated public servants who are trying to prevent the President from lying to his country – are an even more honorable target than the Democratic National Committee?
In sum, isn’t it clear that Rove-gate is worse than Watergate? And, since it’s becoming increasingly obvious that Bush and Cheney knew about this, aren’t Articles of Impeachment for both of them in order if it can be proven in a court of law that the President and Vice President assented to treason in order to cripple an honorable man who dared to expose their lies?

It’s a fascinating constitutional question, but I think a strong argument can be made that civil contempt of Congress is unpardonable.
