I understand Nanette’s frustration and how it makes her not want to hear from the differing political view. I hope she can come to see that many GOP strategies have been based on disinfranchising its political opposition to squelch opposing views and to discourage voters into thinking there is nothing they can do and their vote is worthless.
Not very inclusive if you ask me.
I don’t know if Nanette’s congressman and Senators are Dem or Rep. But my Congressman is republican and he does not like hard questions of accountability, doesn’t care to explain his obedient votes in Bush’s favor, nor his votes against his own districts majority, and extremely uses rhetoric in his replies to mail. Rhetoric as “cut and run”, “fight them there”, “Follow us home”, Oceans no longer protect us” (although oceans didn’t protect us from England and its Navy)., When my Congressman replies with such “Cut and Run” Maneudo, he doesn’t have the military experience nor the personal investment in Iraq other than his Party loyalty to hang on to that party loyal pride and support, to hold power. Sad but true. He does place his GOP over the nations best interest. Probably thinks the GOP is most important because only the GOP knows what to do, and somehow rationalizes it that way. One can only guess at best sometimes.
It is a sewedge plant of delusion to wade through to get reasonable dialogue with my congressman because of it. Normally the nonsense stench he espouses should be enough for many to give up and go away. Which is exactly what my congressman tries to do with opposing views to his own.
So unless Nantette is fortunate enough to live in a district with a politically agreeable Representative there is no problem. So what to do when you do not have that agreeable perspective from ones legislaturing reps??

Be aware of the crucifixion–but do not dwell on it–live the resurrection
Mike Lane is an example of the crucifixion–we must be aware of his mental affliction–but we must not dwell on it–because it is our duty to rise above it with solutions that believe in survival of the species

I totally agree with Nanette’s view. Yes, we do have to attempt to create a dialog with the right wing. Of course, this assumes that such an effort is possible. In my opinion, it is equivalent to trying to talk to a Moonie or Scientologist. Yes, we have to be aware of where they are coming from. But I would prefer to hear some objective analysis rather than endless talking point propaganda.

Dear Mark,
I do understand why you do them, but this guy was so obnoxious that I couldn’t stand it. His ideas are so far off the wall that it is pitiful. He thinks we should have stayed in Viet Nam? He has no idea how many of my friends’ names are on that wall in DC. I don’t know how you do it, but I think I would have a baseball bat handy to knock them over the head with when they go off in some wonderland that is not reality. I hope that I haven’t caused ill feelings, but I just can’t listen to their hate filled stupid drivel. You are a bigger person than I.
If you want to post what I have written, please feel free to do so. Someone may want to take that baseball bat to me! But that is ok, really it is.
Love and Peace to You,
Nanette
