Mark welcomes back as his guest Michael Lane, President of IntElephant Strategies, a consultant working to elect Republicans to political office.
Topics include:
— Yesterday’s Supreme Court decision allowing Congress to overrule state laws allowing medical use of marijuana
— The reward offered for any reporter who dares to ask Bush about the Downing Street memo by Democrats.com. [Full disclosure: Democrats.com and the Congressional Black Caucus once hired me as their attorney to challenge the 2000 Florida Electoral slate]
— Any other question you wish to bring up

Enigma–that case really isn’t closed with the American people, check current disapproval ratings for GW–justice manifests itself sometimes in subtle ways
This is still a smoking gun–no matter how hard you try to pooh-pooh it

I heard Tony Blair state that the subject of the Downing Street Memo is a non-sequitur. The case is closed.
John Kerry, a week agao, was being reported as going to go to the Hill and ask for impeachment proceedings. I haven’t heard him ask for those.
So it appears that someone’s powder got wet.

The Fall of Rome
The government knew they had us,
when they could keep the herb illegal,
although we knew it was medicine.
The government knew they had us,
when they could sell us the Super Bowl as something more than a football game,
although we knew it was just a football game.
The government knew they had us,
when they sold us the war, wrapped in a red, white, and blue bow.
although we knew the Domino Theory was bullshit.
The government knew they had us,
when the Warren Commission sold us Lee Harvey Oswald, instead of the coup d’etat,
although they insulted our intelligence.
The government knew they had us,
when they could hide their military budget and use it for, whatever,
and ask for more, whenever.
The government knew they had us,
when they could send their cowboys out to tame the world and just create more terror.
And so we come to our dilemma,
to watch TV as the world burns,
to eat TV dinners and get fat on fast food and watch our children get fat,
and watch our children come back in body bags from all parts of the world,
and also die in our streets.
Oh, Government of the Eagle, once proud carrier of the torch,
where have your powers gone?
Your power was with the people,
and your power went away,
when the people knew you had them.

In the ‘Nam I used to sprinkle “Cann-sai” into my LRRP-meals like seasoning–that is perhaps the way it should be ingested–eaten like a vegetable additive
The castigating of marijuana, a natural curative agent, by this society and the legalizing of death drugs like alcohol and nicotine is a strong indicator of what’s indigenously wrong with this society
Mike, not Mark, Lane–with quiet, smooth demeanor indicts those who would seek marijuana’s curative release from the stresses of a maddened society as being indulgent, lazy, and not spiritually viable.
I would suggest alcohol and nicotine addicts are subliminally suicidal–mirroring legal society’s mind-set of self-destruction
The government has always seen the danger of marijuana–from it being the “peoples’ release” from the lies of social mores, religious hypocrisy, and political subversion–it truly is–nature telling us something’s wrong–in a song
