Molly Ivins: In Memoriam
February 1, 2007
Syndicated columnist, noted Texas liberal Molly Ivins dies after long battle with cancer
Audio Archive of my favorite debate with Molly Ivins at our joint public appearance (with two Republicans) on social security in 2005
Another well-loved person died today: Kenneth Kincaid, the father of Bob Kincaid, evening talk-show host and Founder of the Head-On Radio Network. Bob and his wife Agnes still run the boards out of the HORN’s central studios in West Virginia.
Kenneth Kincaid was a coal minor, furnace operator, aircraft carrier water tender, grandfather, and father.
He will be missed.

Nice write up in the Texas papers on Ivins with quotes from all over the globe extolling Molly’s wit!
Sounds like many will miss her!

For Molly – I enjoyed her humor and appreciated her spirit.
The following poem (which is a favorite of mine) came to mind when I read the news of her death.)
I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
To allow my living to open me,
To make me less afraid,
More accessible;
To loosen my heart
Until it becomes a wing,
A torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
To live so that which came to me as seed
Goes to the next as blossom,
And that which came to me as blossom,
Goes on as fruit.

(Gordon, Thank you for sharing your poem. It’s one of my favorites of yours.)
Great picture Mark.

Molly Ivins is a loss to the state of Texas, the USA and everyone who wants truth in the news. With her wit she brought to the people some of the inane acts some of our politicians heap on us all and did it with the expertise of a well informed individual!
Rest in peace Molly you deserve it!

Catch You on the Flip-Flop
If we ever loved someone,
we found them first in heaven,
where we planned rendezvous
to meet again
on this plane
to express materially
what can never die.
Why is the physical eye
blind to such intentions
and not see the greater reality,
with memory spanning the conventions
of many lifetimes
to grasp the meaning of the holy encounter
that ties souls together,
for eternity
and to heaven,
sharing immortal flowing feeling,
where we shall return?

For Molly Ivins
Although you arrived
to your final resting
you live on
In the minds of those
your influence persisted
Mine was one of those
for now and hereafter……………..
Thanks Molly
