I didn’t take Economics 101 so I will just use a little common sense and your “logic”. An unemployed person no longer receives a check, so he no longer can pay his mortgage/rent, his elictric bill, gas for his car, etc. If enough people stop purchasing gasoline, electric, groceries and their phone service, then how long before those people in the utilities, gas stations, grocery stores et al,lose their jobs? Do you see a pattern here?
You are probably right that the unemployed do not buy Christmas presents, but they do spend every single dollar on living and that goes directly back into the economy. We have never before as a nation cut off UI with unemployment figures this high. Why after 2 unpaid wars and tax cuts for the wealthiest are we concerned with deficits?
You say ” Nancy Pelosi cannot create jobs by sending out unemployment checks”. One thing that is certain is many lives can be devistated by not receiving “these current entitlement programs”. And what of the untold consequenses? What would you do to feed and house your family and had no other income? I know. You would just pull yourself up by the bootstraps, right.

Economics 101. Really?? Listen up, when people get their unemployment checks they don’t go buy toys for the kids at xmas. Let’s see they pay their mortgage, but that doesn’t create jobs, people already work for the mortgage company. They pay the phone bill but people already work for the phone company so no created jobs there. They pay for gas to look for a job, but people already work at the refineries and gas stations so again no jobs there. They pay the utility bill, bummer people already work for the utilities so again no jobs. Are you seeing the pattern here?? Nancy Pelosi cannot create jobs by sending out unemployment checks. If she really wanted to help she would get rid of the current entitlement programs that only suck cash from the citizens and businesses. She would make sure that no taxes were hidden in the Financial Reform and Healthcare crap which is what is making the businesses nervous and they are hedging on job creation.
This administration and current Congress has failed. When I listen to you talk it appears that you use the same speech writer that the top stooges use. Oh, by the way, the financial collapse was due to a draw down of cash in the money market and by the failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The latter being the failure of the Clinton Admin not Bush. Wow Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are not part of the Financial Reform, must be a simple oversight.
