The Beginning of the End of Free Speech in America

Hyping terror, spying on innocent Americans, helping dictators abroad, and shredding our Constitution at home… All in all, a typical week for those in charge of our Government.
Yet, I have to admit that what bothers me the most this week is the possibility that our Freedom of Speech — long cherished for 215 years in the very first words of the Bill of Rights — may soon end. As I write this, the Senate is voting whether to abolish the part of the Constitution which once protected the right of American citizens to protest the policies of their Government by doing one of the most angry, non-violent acts imaginable: burning an American Flag.
UPDATE: The amendment failed BY ONE VOTE! 66 to 34. I promise never to burn the American Flag unless and until that right is taken away from me.

It’s ok to burn the flag – freedom of speech – we have that right – but if it comes down to mentioning God in a high school graduation speech or playing a “religious” instrumental number, that is not acceptable.
