Non-Debate Tuesday
(broadcast stream) (.mp3 download Right-click,”Save Target as”,”Save”)
Mark had planned today to debate former Radical Leftist and now Radical Right-Wing writer and political commentator, David Horowitz, but David Horowitz did not show. That debate has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 18. And the blog comments originally posted here have been moved to that day.
Instead, today, I focused on the awful Government response to Hurricane Katrina and particular, an INSIDE SCOOP, that has gotten insufficient attention to date: why is the Government funneling cash from well-wishers to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina to Pat Robertson?
See FEMA website in Spanish designating only the Red Cross, Robertson’s “Operation Blessing,” and America’s Second Harvest Bank as places for Americans to send cash donations.
Congratulations, Pat! You have profitted handsomely from the New Orleans misery. God must have granted you your wish after all!!!
Pat Robertson successfully profitted from the Rwandan genocide as well. Most aid to those victims was diverted to Robertson’s diamond mines, for which he shares profits with brutal dictator, murderer-of-parents-to-make-armies-of-child Charles Taylor of Liberia.
Isn’t it “nice” to have our Government — which already gave $25 million in taxpayer funds to Robertson — continuing to indirectly support Taylor through Robertson? When will Christians tell Pat Robertson that he can go to hell….or that he need not do, because he is already there!!!
And shouldn’t Americans — anxious to help Katrina victims — know that the Government is pushing their money to go instead into diamond mines to likely help one of the most vicious murderers of our time (Charles Taylor)?
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

The buck stops on the sweating, exposed buttocks of George Bush

It was legitmate. All high level right wing wingers were called back. They needed to receivige talking points on how to blame the Katrina failurs on the Democrats (the mayor, the governor and, of course, Bill Clinton). Rove had said it was urgent that they receive this training before they appear on any talk shows. They would need to spin why FEMA had sent away all ariving help and how they planned to let all these Democrats die with dignity like they had with Tery S.. So it was not David Horowitz’s fault and nobody should be “playing the blame game”. Nobody cares more suffering people then George Bush.
If he no-shows like a jerk--he probably quacks like a duck September 7, 2005 6:33 pm
Vicky–forgetfulness speaks to stupidity and lack of professionalism–perhaps his emergency was finding out there weren’t any kids in his family that lived
My condolences
But he’ll have to prove to me he isn’t a jerk and a punk (I think he is the guy who did those consumer alerts on the Today Show a few years back)
He’s probably gotten to where his is by disavowing all his rude behavior–that is quite obvious to everyone else

“To be a no show with no notice speaks of arrogance…”
Really? So there’s no such thing as plain old forgetfulness huh? Or would there be the possibility of an emergency that would put all other thoughts out of one’s mind?
Mr. Horowitz is a professional and has been a civil activist for most of his life. I doubt that he’s gotten to the position he’s in now by intentional rude behavior.
Mark – have you heard what happened that he wasn’t able to debate with you on Debate Tuesday?

So is the cover finally coming off the myth that George Bush is strong on defense?
Does anything embolden our Islamo-fascist enemies anymore–than to see this type of ineffectual emergency response from feeble FEMA and Homeland Insecurity?
The machine is obviously broken–but George Bush thinks he has an indefinite time-line to cure his broken homeland protection bureaucracy–isn’t this actually a window of opportunity for those who would seek us ill?
Most of all–are the American people starting to see the big picture of the War on Terror?–that this conflict does not have military or political incursion as ends–they are just means to what is an economic war of attrition gauged for, not years, but decades to accomplish a toppling of the world economy by toppling the U.S. economy.
So $200 Billion for a foreign war here–$160 Billion for a natural disaster there–a U.S. economy in the red and painfully dependent on oil–is right on glide-path for evil intents initiated by twenty-some men who knew how to fly planes but didn’t know how to land them.
This war of attrition is like Jiu-Jitsu–to overreact is to lose, each movement must be well calculated and administered– and the bounty-hunting cowboy has unwittingly overextended and mismanaged U.S. resources in response to our enemy’s baiting.
Aren’t the U.S. people starting to feel this pinch?
A word to the wise–the next time Bush takes an extended vacation to Crawford–stock up on canned goods, bottled water, and make sure your generator is working.
